We’re thinking about ways to integrate the pitched roof into a modern exterior. To us “modern” means “flat”, but the cost of changing the roof system is prohibitive (though attractive, because the 3rd storey is only a smallish ½ storey & it will be our office. Even flattening the roof would add a lot of volume to the oddly shaped rooms.)
The exterior is stucco over what must have been lovely (at one time) brick. The exterior window sills look like limestone. It would be nice if the home had its original exterior, as the stucco lacks character and it would lend itself to a nice “British Victorian brick with modern glass extension” juxtaposition.
A nearby home is being clad in a dark grey material that inspired us to sketch what our home might look like with a similar siding & a glass entrance.
