We’d noticed the snappy dark grey “cladding” going up on a traditional Lipton Street house in the neighbourhood, and wondered if it would work for our new place. We likely won’t renovate the outside for a few years, but intend to plan for it now & are interested in seeing how others are handling “modernizing” century homes.
On closer inspection, it’s not cladding—it’s just being restuccoed. The house’s old stucco is being covered by a layer of styrofoam insulation, then wire mesh, new stucco (or cement?) & pigment.
The tidy lines in the stucco application give the impression of hardie board or other panels, while probably far less costly.
